Written in 1986, "Kristallpalast" was part of an experiment in stream of consciousness writing, which also resulted, amongst others, in "Counting out time".
Not just the only song in this collection with German lyrics, it is in fact my only German song, as well as the only song that was recorded for the first time for this CD. Not even a rough piano & vocal live recording, which I normally made for all my songs, existed. I had a very clear idea of how the song was supposed to sound but no means of producing anything that came close to this vision at the time. 
When I found the lyric and chord sheet while working on this collection, I remembered instantly what I had originally had in mind and, now with modern recording technology at hand, I created this version a mere 30 years after it was composed.
