"It's over" was originally recorded in 1993 by my pop project "Men in Raincoats" for the "Song of Hope" EP. If you listen careful to the lyrics, written by MIR co-member Marcus, there is some hope there, but it also sounds quite unfounded. Yet despite the cheerful lyrics, or perhaps because of them, this song, like the other ones from that EP, enjoyed some radio play in France.
This is one of my personal favourites of all the songs I've written. So although I consider the MIR version, sung by Marcus, as the ultimate version of this song, I wanted to include it in this collection. I was also looking forward to producing a full rock version of it. As you can hear that didn’t quite work out: it just doesn’t suit the song and therefore this just ended up as a slightly jazzed-up version with a different singer.
Maybe I don't, I don't feel like crying
Though I think I know you're gone
Maybe I don't want to talk to you now
After all the things we've done
It's easy now to live without me, can't you see?
Well, it's up and down, again, again
Is anyone here who could give me a sign?
Can't you see, I'm dying for you?
Just knock on my door if you're really out there
I'll be coming to see you
She said: I'm all alone in your dream house, but can't you see
that it's up and down, again, again
Do you know it's over now?
Do you know it's over?
Do you know it's over now?
Do you know
It's over!
Maybe I thought, thought I'd write to you now
For I know you'd understand
Maybe I was thinking of something you said,
Yeah, as my oldest friend
You said: It's over now and it's not easy, can't you see,
that it's up and down, again, again
Do you know it's over now?
Do you know it's over?
Do you know it's over now?
Do you know
It's over!
